Bonus Mount Rushmore: Bobsled Team

With the Olympics upon us and everyone caught up in the thrilling finishes and heartbreak. It got us to thinking: what is the perfect bobsled team of the video game world?

This bonus Mount Rushmore will tackle that question and provide the perfect bobsled team that would capture gold (and our hearts).

Bob (Tekken): It’s in his name, it’s in his blood, it’s in his size. Bob would make the perfect anchor allowing for top speed and stability. Only question is: can he keep pace to get on the sled?

Dovahkiin (Skyrim): Every team needs a hero and we fill that quota here. Their ability to change race, gender and size gives this team an advantage with adaptibility and skill sets. Also the caveat; a well timed Fus Ro Dah can give a crucial boost to the sled.

Luigi (Super Mario Franchise): This team will need a veteran bobsleder and Luigi can provide insight and techniques to mastering the sled. He has been doing it since Mario Party 2 and will be a valuable asset to the team. There was much debate between him and his brother but we leaned on height and being a team player as the deciding factors to choose Luigi as our third sledder.

Connor (Assassin’s Creed 3): He’s silent and deadly, clam and careful. A man of the land and of his people. Captain of a ship and a revolution. A perfect candidate to steer our ship or better yet sled.

There you have it!

Breaking News: Zangief Banned from Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

Character Select Screen (BFN) there is unexpected news in the gaming world, Capcom has just announced that Russian fighter Zangief has been banned from the recently released Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. The move comes after it was learned that Zangief had failed numerous drug tests over a four year span. This comes on the eve of the Winter Olympic Games which saw the Country of Russia being banned for wide spread alleged drug use.

A Capcom representative put out the following statement:

From this moment on, Mr Zangief will be barred from this current game and any new games moving forward. His actions are a clear disgrace and a mockery of our institution and do not reflect the noble spirit of competition. He has let this franchise down, his fans down and more importantly; his fellow competitors down.

When asked for a comment, Zangiefs attorney, Howard Levinbred stated that “these allegations are completly false and I have never even seen any hint of a failed drug test”. He also shifted blame to others by saying “if he (Zangief) were guilty, do you really think he was the only one? I mean look at the other fighters; this is a harsh sport and everyone looks for any advantage whether it be long arms or energy balls.” He ended by saying: “…look this is a wide spread issue with cheating and my client is the scapegoat for all of this.”

There will certainly be more to this story, so stay here for all updates.

Monday Mount Rushmore: Athletes

It’s that time of the week again!

With the Winter Games upon us in a few days, (This Thursday openning ceremony starting at 9 PM ECT / 6 PM PCT on NBC) it is only natural that this weeks Mount Rushmore should he focused on the greatest athletes and competitors in video game history.

Without further ado:

Michael Vick, 2004 Madden: We start off with a strong one. This Quarterback was one rough player to take down. He had all the skills; speed, arm strength and would juke you like a fool. He was always a go to pick and was a walk in the park when playing as the Atlanta Falcons. No bark all bite with this athlete.

Sentinal, MVC 2: With this next competitor, talk about a tank. Twice as strong as any fighter and taking him on felt like your hits did nothing. All strength and fighting skill, no programming to help this bot. A pure fighting monster, that will always be remembered as the best there was.

Little Mac, Punch Out: Here we have a boxing icon. He always fought out of his weight class and never backed down. He took on fighters twice, even three times his size and beat them with ease. His left and right alternate punches stunned even the biggest fighter. He had the best trainer in Doc in his corner giving him words of wisdom. Little Mac danced like a fly and bit like a mosquito.

Bayonetta, Super Smash Bros Wii-U & 3ds: The last athlete here was a fighter introduced late in the Smash franchise as a DLC character in the latest installment. What makes Bayonetta stand out is how hard you have to work to win a match and how out classed she is at times. Her combos take months of practice but is worth it cause she is not some overpowered, easy way out, cheap juggling type character.
